Mark's Blog

Well, there's nothing more important these days than a web presence, so here's mine. (Or at least one of them!)

I have been a reference librarian in Greensboro for 38 years, an Ultimate Frisbee player for almost 43 years, and a collector (of diverse sorts of things, including stamps, triceratopses (sp?), frisbees and books) for most of my life. And I have been a husband for over 12 incredibly happy years.

My 61st semester at UNC Greensboro

Well, I have been blogging for about three and a half years now, and I feel pretty comfortable doing it. (Of course you can read my entire blog in 90-120 seconds!!)

Using color may enhance the quality of this blog, so I will try one of my favorite colors. This fall is off to a decent start. I have been doing lots of library instruction, which is one of the reference librarians' key tasks, especially this time of year. A lot of the groups are UNS 101 classes, where I meet kids in their FIRST semester at UNCG. They are less than a third my age, but I manage to get along with most of them--that's what 30 years at a university will do for you!!

My "legendary" activities as a fan of Spartan sports continue as well, although I did not get out to California to see the women's soccer team play at my alma mater (Stanford). But they did great !! They beat the #15 team in the US. GO G !!
