Mark's Blog

Well, there's nothing more important these days than a web presence, so here's mine. (Or at least one of them!)

I have been a reference librarian in Greensboro for 38 years, an Ultimate Frisbee player for almost 43 years, and a collector (of diverse sorts of things, including stamps, triceratopses (sp?), frisbees and books) for most of my life. And I have been a husband for over 12 incredibly happy years.

Mark, the videographer

There is nothing like being dragged, either by others or by yourself, into the present, especially if there are lots of things in the past that you like.  This weekend was one such "dragging" moment:  taking "movies" with a digital camcorder!!

Rather amazingly, once I figured out all the buttons/tabs/etc. to push to make it go, the films themselves came out pretty nice. No panning too fast, nice sharp, clear pictures (I think the camera gets credit for that!) and fun videos to watch.

Here's one short one I really like:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx3l01J6c84
Enjoy !

Battling Blogs

Well, not really, of course!

My wife has begun a blog of her own, My Word [http://pammcrae.blogspot.com/ and, in three months or so, already has written more than I have in, oh, almost six years!  It is a very good thing that she is the far more eloquent and evocative writer of the two of us; many friends and colleagues have already sung her praises, and rightfully so. Her posts run from personal reflections on events to highly perceptive reviews of the books she has recently read (of which there are many).

Basketball Blues

It is getting more and more depressing to see our basketball team deprived of legitimate victories by atrocious referees.  It happened again last night when two of our playing were knocked to the floor in overtime by App State players and nothing was called!  If we have a great venue for basketball but officials better placed on a middle-school playground, what;'s the point ???
